Main purpose of the role:

The Wind Site Manager will monitor the wind turbine O&M activities to provide support to the Asset Management (AM) functions for the K1 Cluster of Wind Farms. He/She will report on performance KPI’s and ensure that the OEM perform their duties as per the Service and Availability Agreement (SAA) as well as EDFR internal quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Enforcing HSE and Quality policies and complying to an incident free team culture.
  • Regular site inspections and monitoring of site activities.
  • Monitoring all maintenance / construction works and ensuring compliance with site permits and standards.
  • Ensuring that the plant operating, and maintenance standards are met.
  • Management of subcontractors (environmental consultants, technical advisors).
  • Liaison with the landowner(s) and local authorities.
  • Ensuring that identified defects, issues or safety risks on site are recorded, mitigated and escalated as required.
  • Delivering regular internal inspection and operations reports.
  • Review of Annual O&M Plans for approval to ensure activities are per OEM standards and contractual obligations.
  • Organisation / filing of operational documentation.
  • Project/functional reporting to Asset Manager and Line reporting to O&M Co Manager.
  • HSE compliance in conjunction with the BOP O&M Team.
  • Site inspections (the inspections will include but not limited to wind turbine inspections and reporting site findings on main component failures and replacements,)
  • Management and tracking site findings and consolidation and follow-up of identified defects.
  • Verification and control of maintenance planning and works.
  • Consolidation and tracking of plant performance KPIs, including availability.
  • Allocation and monitoring of Facility downtime.
  • Contract management of specific contracts within your scope of responsibility.
  • Third party site visit / audit facilitation.
  • Preparation for internal and external reporting.
  • Attending meetings with the OEM.
  • Payment administration and cost follow-up.
  • Regular reporting to Asset Manager.
  • Lead, organise and develop subordinates, to continuously improve their individual performance.
  • Knowledge of ORHVS and operating and switching of LV/MV/HV equipment when requirement.

Qualifications and certifications

Must-have Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Higher National Diploma or NQF 6 Qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering field
  • Preferred Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Higher National Diploma or NQF 6 Qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering field

Relevant Experiences

Must-have years of professional experiences:

  • 8 years general work experience

Must-have years of industry experiences:

  • At least 5 years with relevant experience with a minimum of three years as a Technician with Global Turbine OEM. Knowledge of ORHVS and LV/MV/HV switching and operation will be considered advantageous.

Technical competencies:

  • General technical acumen.
  • Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel, problem solving ability, Site Supervision acumen, leadership experience, attention to detail, excellent reporting ability.

Behavioral competencies:

  • Ability to work independently.

Leadership competencies, if applicable:

Lead, organise and develop subordinates forming part of the Site Management team,

Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English; additional local language skills are an advantage.

Willingness to travel regularly within the Eastern Cape and driver’s license.
