Roles and Responsibilities:

Overall, the IT Intern will develop during the internship the competences and gain the experience for the maintenance of computer systems, including mobile devices, networks, and peripheral devices (IT systems), to ensure the highest functionality within EDF Renewables.

The responsibilities of the IT Intern will encompass a diverse range of tasks, including:

  • Facilitating the onboarding and offboarding processes for users, desktops, and notebooks in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Installing and configuring computer peripheral accounts, following approved SOPs.
  • Providing efficient IT support to end-users, addressing experienced day-to-day problems with their assigned IT tools.
  • Maintaining effective communication with end-users during fault troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshooting or resolving tier 1 network problems, escalating more complex issues to the Head of IT.
  • Obtaining quotations and issuing commitment and payment forms for the procurement of IT tools as and when required.
  • Assisting with Video Conferencing equipment as required.
  • Participating in weekly IT catch and one-on-one meetings with the Head of IT.
  • Undertaking any additional IT tasks as requested by management from time to time.

Furthermore, the IT Intern may be required to engage on industry specific technical topics directly related to EDF Renewables renewable energy projects and to support the IT Technician, when necessary.


Reporting Relationships:

The IT Intern will report to the Head of IT.

During the internship, the role collaborates closely with the IT Technician and Office Managers for coordination and direction of day-to-day activities.


Qualifications and Skills:

The successful candidate will possess at least a NQF 5 in IT.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Technical acumen with problem solving abilities and good attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities, with a strong focus on results and outcomes.
  • Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required.

Advantageous Qualifications and Skills:

It will be advantageous to have obtained the following certifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in either Computer Science, Information Technology or Management Information Systems.
  • Basic certification of working with hardware, networks, and computer systems. (A+ certification).
  • Networking technologies (N+) certification.
  • Security+ (S+) certification

The internship contract will have a duration from 6 up to 12 months.

The position is a skilled position that requires work in an office setting, during regular office hours.

At times, work after hours may be required.
