The Project Finance Analyst will support the Project Finance team in structuring, analyzing, and implementing financing solutions for renewable energy projects across South Africa and select African markets. This role involves financial modeling, due diligence, and stakeholder coordination to optimize investment decisions.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Project Finance Analyst to assist in project structuring, financial modeling, and investment analysis. Reporting to the Head of Project Finance, this role provides exposure to complex project financing, risk assessment, and market analysis, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, investors, and advisors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain financial models for project evaluation and investment analysis.
- Run scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to optimize project feasibility.
- Assist in financing processes, including lender coordination and due diligence.
- Review and analyze loan agreements, facility agreements, and financial documentation.
- Support investment committee decision-making by preparing financial presentations.
- Collaborate with external advisors, legal teams, and funding institutions.
- Conduct market research to identify financing trends and funding opportunities.
- Assist in implementing hedging and risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor condition precedents and funding drawdowns during financial close.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or financial analysis.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Advantageous:
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
- Master’s degree in Finance or Economics.
- Experience in the energy or infrastructure sector.
- Exposure to project management and corporate finance.
