The Umoyilanga Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a 75MW hybrid project that integrates a 115MWp solar farm, a 67MWp wind farm, and 90MWh of battery storage across two sites. The O&M Co-Director will play a critical role in leading the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the VPP, ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and commercial obligations.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced O&M Co-Director to oversee the operations and maintenance of the Umoyilanga Virtual Power Plant. Reporting to the Head of O&M, you will be responsible for managing the O&M team, ensuring plant performance, optimizing budgets, and maintaining compliance with key agreements (PPA, O&M Wrap Agreement, and Implementation Agreements).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the O&M team managing the Umoyilanga VPP, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Define and track KPIs for plant performance, reliability, availability, and O&M costs.
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure adherence to O&M obligations.
  • Manage budgeting, financial planning, and P&L aspects of the O&M company.
  • Implement HSE and quality management policies across the VPP.
  • Monitor and optimize maintenance planning and plant lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, external contractors, and third-party providers.
  • Support risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent EDF Renewables in industry forums, audits, and compliance reporting.
  • Ensure all O&M documentation, reporting, and legal compliance are maintained.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, or Built Environment.
  • 10 years of experience in an operational environment.
  • Minimum 5 years in renewable energy asset management or O&M management.
  • Strong contract management expertise, including OEM agreements, claims, and performance guarantees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to site at least quarterly.

Advantageous:

  • Fluency in multiple languages.
  • Experience in hybrid renewable energy projects.
